Categories and concepts are how we deals with the complex nature of the world. Stereotypes and prejudice reflect inference from categories. Stereotypes reflect inference from type of person or social categories. Implicit prejudice not declared, but shows in behavior. People respond faster when valence of items agrees. Research shows that iat is independent of explicit attitudes.
