PUBH 1001 Lecture Notes - Lecture 6: Relative Risk
Document Summary
Experiment: duodenal infusion of donor feces for recurrent clostridium difficile. Observational study: you measure how people react to different things. You talk to people who don"t have a disease and identify risk factors and see whether or not they are exposed. Instantaneous risk: is the rate at which individuals will develop a trait/condition. Relative risk : tells us what the risk is for people who have a positive exposure to a thing. Case rate in exposed group/ case rate in not exposed group. 9000 smokers and 12000 non-smokers followed subjects for 15 years. Results determined that 985 smokers and 240 non-smokers develop lung disease during the follow up period.
