Document Summary

Historically used to further oppress marginalized groups of people: female, african americans. Master narrative degrades and dehumanizes these groups. Major issue during the hiv/aids epidemic: oversexualized homosexual men, greatly ignored and overlooked during the reagan presidency. Normalized objectification of women within society: transcends to the hypersexualization of lesbians. Lesbians are viewed as a sexual fantasy and a form of pleasure for men. Society hypersexualizes bisexuality and pansexuality: assumed to be more promiscuous and thought to practice polygamy, reduces them to their sexuality, objectified by heterosexual cisgender men, highest rates of sexual assault. Media exaggerates beauty standards held towards cisgender women. Conflicting desires to be more feminine: externalized struggles for transgender women. Lower income transgender women find it harder to afford steroids, surgeries, etc. 50% of hates crimes in the lgbt community are against transgender women. Evidence of many artists, musicians, and writers having been homosexual: donatello, leonardo da vinci, michelangelo, william shakespeare, emily dickinson, walt whitman.
