Document Summary

The idea that someone would spend time in labor is itself an argument against capitalism. Regardless of how much you pay someone, doing work makes you less of a human being (last lecture): manual/industrial labor. In a society with this kind of division of labor, the image that society creates of itself is incomplete and fragmented because the people who contribute to intellectual labor are people who have time (and money) to do it. Society"s understanding of itself is always filtered through the elite class perspective. The prime mover of human history is the intellectual force: ideas more history. Human beings are constantly exploring and creating their own freedom. Hegel : we don"t always have a clear understanding of. Feuerbach: ideas are the motor of history idealism freedom. Marx: even though you might be familiar to certain ideas, young hegelians are blind to how we actually live and the material approaches to which we live our lives.
