The prevalence of sexual disorders is controversial: m/w sexual problems differ. Sexual disorders: difficulty or inability to achieve orgasm or ejaculation (aka male orgasmic disorder, opposite of pe, fairly uncommon, may result from neurological damage, use of certain drugs, or psychological causes. Erectile dyfunction (ed) has many causes and treatments: recurrent inability to achieve an adequate penile erection sufficient enough to accomplish a desired sexual behavior, simple measures to alleviate the problem. Is much more common as men age: can have physical or psychological causes developmental issues. Con: difficult to conceal when one doesn"t want to be aroused. Locally applied drugs: require only that the erectile tissue be functional, prostaglandin e hormone that tis injected into the penis to produce an erection, delivered by self injection in corpora cavernosa. Psychological treatments may be useful: sex therapy, goal is to reduce anxiety, sensate focus, efforts to resolve relationship problems, may be combined with drug treatment.
