Gender alone cannot help us understand the experience of these women. Structure of race and class also play a big role. Intersectionality takes into account multiple structural components and their compounding effect. To not examine the multiple factors related to these experiences is to erase/diminish the experiences of entire groups of women. What does (cid:858)dou(cid:271)le su(cid:271)o(cid:396)di(cid:374)atio(cid:374)(cid:859) (cid:373)ea(cid:374)? (cid:894)pg 96(cid:895) But there are also opportunities to resist. All three categories of meaning (race, gender, and class) These categories all intersect to compound the experiences of entire groups of people. Building coalitions with these intersections in mind = key. Women of color are situated in two subordinate groups based on hierarchies of gender and race.
