Males may be promiscuous to increase the number of offspring: not invested in giving resources just increase number of, males will often say they cheated because it was a fling or one night stand. Female promiscuity leads to: mate guarding. He is there to fight off other males and keep his female in line. The male dog will stand its ground and sit there and stop the dog from socializing at all. When women are ovulating, man becomes more sexually jealous. Women are more likely to cheat when they are ovulating: production of large numbers of sperm in males. Gorillas are much larger but their testicle is smaller. Evolved because we seem to think that women were promiscuous. Men with large testicles were more likely to impregnate.
