May think of people from this time as being bad and drugged up a lot, but there were not a lot of medicines that worked, this did. Even back then, some thought they were bad. They were used for everything: couch syrup, teething aid, etc: heroin was marketed as replacement for morphine. Marketed heavily by drug companies as a cough remedy without morphine"s side effects.
