Conflict and liking: conflict can involve many more people than liking, organization and duration of love very different from that of hate. Conflict arises when divisions are vague and social norms do not line up. Idea that people attend college in order to increase individual knowledge and attain skills to increase net advantage in employment market: critique: skills learned in college may not help in a job. Institution of college: social norms push high school graduates to college.
