No zoos or use of animals in entrainment: (abolitionist point of view) Both are conscious and aware that they exist. Both live in such a way as to give themselves the best quality of life. Peta = people for the ethical treatment of animals. Peter singer protectionist: all argue that the animal welfare model has failed ethically. Somatic cell nuclear transfer took 3 months. Inefficient: dolly was 1/277 attempts 70-80% success rates. Procedure also performed on pigs, deer, horses, and cattle. Definition: introduction of desirable genes or traits into an animal via recombinant dna technology. Intended uses: enhance production or food quality traits, improve animal health, produce products for human therapeutic use, enhance human-animal interactions, develop animal models for human disease, produce industrial or consumer products.
