Children an (cid:862)read(cid:863) the (cid:271)ook (cid:271)y using (cid:272)ues in the language or in the pi(cid:272)tures; little decoding is necessary. Used for shared reading with a while class. Used for guided reading for no voice readers. The words in the book are chosen because of their orthographic features. Typically story or content is very simplistic. The words and sentences are written to blend decodability and predictability. Good for independent reading not good for interactive read aloud. Early chapter books language is simple but more natural chapters are independent.
