Have to go live with family dont really ask for help: realities, morbidity and mortality, inadequate treatment, much less likely to be referred things. Comorbid physical disorders - like cardiovascular disease, copd, medications that treat those. Innate - hormonal differences environment, cultulre, socialization promiscuity, alcohol, drugs, irritability, gambling: culture and depression, causation. People of lower income and lower education are more likely to have mental health problems. Racism and discrimination in society - embedded ideas about race; micro-aggressions over time wear you down - increase risk for depression and anxiety. Greater exposure to racism, discrimination, violence, and poverty - living in poverty has the most measurable effect on rates **: treatment, mistrust of mental health services deters minorities from seeking treatment.
