Christianity in a nutshell - god created the world and gave humans freedom. humans misused the freedom and became estranged from god, god effected reconciliation with humans. Key claim of christianity - jesus resurrected from the dead three days after his crucifixion, created mortal and raised immortal (this view of afterlife is a different view from plato"s) Trinity: father - creator, son - savior, spirit - companion. Doctrine of incarnation - jesus was fully human but not merely human, both god and man(divine and human) Darwinism - accepts theory of natural selection and common descent. Common descent thesis(cdt) - all life evolved with modification from a common species. Old earth thesis(oet) - natural selection took 3-5 billion years to result in humankind. Any version of ns + ct is incompatible with christianity. Young earth thesis(yet) - earth is less than 10,000 years old. It is only when a philosophical add on(ct) or biblical literalism is employed that a problem arises.
