Assertiveness: helps resolve con icts and communicate more e ectively in response to verbal abuse, assertion theory. Based on the premise that every person has certain basic rights. People are taught that acting consistently with these rights is socially or morally unacceptable: nonverbal assertiveness. Deals with what is said and how it is said. Body language: standing straight, facing the other person directly, eye contact, speaking in a clear and steady voice, speaking uently, without hesitation. Putting hands on hips and wagging head. Desc form: formula for verbally expressing assertiveness. Consequences of whether or not change is made.
