Understand the basics of human rights: where they come from, how they develop, why they matter. It is all of the rights and freedoms and liberties you have as an individual from being a human being. What sort of rights are covered: equal protection under the law, economic rights. Where do they come from: enlightenment thinkers, french revolutionary thinkers, different constitutions, basic religious tenets. Universal: all people have the same rights by nature of being human. Relative: rights are dependent upon cultural and historical factors, right to bear arms in the united states, saudi arabia does thinks based on the qur"an. Religon: most major religions share common concepts regarding human dignity. Political and legal philosophy: natural law and natural rights. Political revolutions: cemented philosophical points of view regarding natural rights. What are the major criticisms of these three sources: western in uence, took some bloody revolutions. To help protect human rights and to spread them further.
