Sociological imagination- the application of imaginative thought to the asking and answering of questions regarding sociology. Social structure-the underlying regularities or patterns in how people behave with one another. Social construction- an idea or practice that a group of people agree exists. Thing we think are natural are created by human beings. Ex. admission to college or sex and gender norms. How social phenomena relate to biological phenomena. Socialization-once a norm is internalized, we tend to follow through with expectations when we interact with others. If we value higher education lecture hall is a symbol of a greater whole. Understand how conditions of democracy and equality were possible. Looked at the influence of mass large scale organizations and how they influence us. In his materialist conception of history, the driving force for social change and the source of conflict in society is economics.
