Hegemony: the dominance of one group over another thourgh unequal relationships of power over the other. Exercise leadership in such a way that subordinate groups convinced it"s in th their general interest not to fight that world view. Hegemonic sleight-of-hand: the dominant groups use the governing institutions they control to hide their power while reaffirming it. Creates ideological consent and/or fosters lack of resistance by perpetuating specific ideological as real and achievable. Story and myth: davance ideologies and hegemonic positions. Tv is in the business of assembling people and selling them to advertisers. Total in its grasp over heterogeneous mass audience.
