Pertaining to the stone tool industry associated with neandertals and some modern h. sapiens; also called middle paleolithic. Able to be used for very specific tasks. Remains of animal bones demonstrate that neandertals were successful hunters. Can see this from patterns of trauma in their remains. Prevailing consensus has been that neandertals were capable of articulate speech.
