Document Summary

We have a growing and increasingly dysfuncional level of inequality in our society. This has resulted from problems in our economic systems (markets) exacberated by poliics: the government has been willing to ip the scale in favor of the 1% In the process, we have harmed our democraic process. Economic reform: curb excesses at the top, reduce rent-seeking and level the playing ield, curb the inancial sector. Reduce risk-taking: it leads to failure: make banks more transparent, make banks more compeiive. Poliical reform: campaign inance reform, access to less biased informaion, require voing, make registraion/voing easier, reduce gerrymandering, reform ilibuster. What does siglitz think will happen in 50 years: reform. Moving closer to liberty and jusice for all . The 99% will realize they have been duped. Or the 1% will realize that reform beneits them, too: current trend worsens.
