Document Summary

Photosynthesis continued: chlorophyll acts as the reducing agent, electrons move through a series of redox reactions. They flow from chlorophyll through the electron transport chain: 3 products produced from the light reaction. Oxygen: photophosphorylation: chemiosmotic synthesis of atp and it happens in the thylakoid membrane within the chlorophyll. 2 types of electron transport with a light reaction: non cyclic electron transport. A photosystem is a light driven molecular unit/motor, consists of many chlorophyll molecules and accessory pigments and is bound to many proteins and has antenna systems. Uses light energy to reduce nadp to nadph. The reaction center of photosystem 1 contains a chlorophyll a which is p700. This means the chlorophyll absorbs light best at a 700nm wavelength. Will use light energy to oxidize water molecules. The protons from the water molecule will then be used in electron transport to produce atp. It has a p680 at the reaction center (this is also chlorophyll a)
