Document Summary

Second cancer is when an individual is diagnosed with cancer for a second time after beating it the first. If the cancer that comes back is the same it is called a recurrence, however it is also possible to develop a new type of cancer. This is decided from a number of components. First, it depends on where the first cancer was found and whether or not it affected any other organs. A second cancer could develop in a neighboring organ or it could be completely unrelated to this and be a result from the first cancer treatment. This may be because the whole organ (and sometimes nearby organs and tissues) were exposed to the same cancer-causing agents that led to the first cancer. This means that the entire area could already have early changes that can lead to cancer http://www. cancer. org/cancer/cancercauses/othercarcinogens/medicaltreatments/secondcancersc ausedbycancertreatment/second-cancers-caused-by-cancer-treatment-shared-risk-factors.
