Healing process: repair, regeneration, and formation of scar tissue
Continuum
Inflammatory response phase- 0-4 days
Fibrolastic repair phase – 6 weeks
Maturation phase – 2 too 3 years
Phases
Inflammatory response phase- injury- 2 phases
Fibrolastic repair phase- scra tissue sppears, type 3 collagen
Maturation remodeling phase – finalizatipn of scar tissue, Wolf’s law is applied
Inflammatory response phase
Injury
Phase begins immediately and lasrs 48 to 72 hours overlapping into a fourth day
Signs of inflammation: redness, swelling, heat, pain, and loss of function
General purpose: bleeding and clotting
Sequence of events: injury- chemical mediators liberated
Maturation remodeling phase
Overlappingfrom a few weeks and extending months and possibly years towards completion.
General purpose: continuous remodeling towards final scar tissue. Collagen fibers aling along
direction of tissue tension
Fibrolastic repair phase
Overlapping from fourth day up to 6 weeks
General purpose: gradual repair and remodeling, leading to formation and increase tensile
strenght of scar tissue
Fibroplasia leads to gradulation tissue

Document Summary

Healing process: repair, regeneration, and formation of scar tissue. Fibrolastic repair phase- scra tissue sppears, type 3 collagen. Maturation remodeling phase finalizatipn of scar tissue, wolf"s law is applied. Phase begins immediately and lasrs 48 to 72 hours overlapping into a fourth day. Signs of inflammation: redness, swelling, heat, pain, and loss of function. Overlappingfrom a few weeks and extending months and possibly years towards completion. General purpose: continuous remodeling towards final scar tissue. Collagen fibers aling along direction of tissue tension. Overlapping from fourth day up to 6 weeks. General purpose: gradual repair and remodeling, leading to formation and increase tensile strenght of scar tissue. Collagen: strong fibrous protein found in connective tissue. 80 90% exist as type one, type two, or type three. Wolf"s law: bone and soft tissue will respond to physical demands placed on them, causing them to remodel and realign along line of tensile forse.
