Seven different parts ( articles ) that deal with different things. Creates congress with power (branch of govt. that"s more represented and that represents the people best. Creates president with limited and vague powers. Constitution doesn"t state how many justices or what their official powers are, just states that there is a supreme court. Assumes popular sovereignty answer to the people. People have ultimate power and control- idea that people that have power. No one can have more ultimate authority. Note permits racism and sexism by founders. White men were born equal, everyone else was not. Establishes the checks and balances/ separation of powers within the branches. Separation of powers with checks and balances. System of organization in which government powers are distributed among separate institutions along with overlapping authority. Representative democracy (example: republic vs. (pure) democracy) Pure/direct democracy- people just get whatever they want. National govt. and state government power over state governments.
