After bloody mary , elizabeth comes and reestablishes church of england. 1576 - first permanent playhouse in london :) Prior to this, would have traveling bands of players (elaborate carts) These bands would be under patronage of noble family - on call for family. Would put on morality plays - allegorical, literal - story meant to tell a message, low church . Would also have mystery plays - seasonal festivals put on. Happen every couple years and towns put in tons of money towards these.
