Primate social organization can be very complex and similar to that of humans. Primates can organize themselves in very simple groups: mother and infant pairs among orangutans. They can also be large, complex groups composed of several sub-groups: gelada baboons can form foraging bands of 600 individuals. Ponginae orangutans (asian great apes) inhabit rain forests of southeast asia. Females and their offspring form solitary groups that inhabit territories overlapping with several solitary males. Orangutans are promiscuous have multiple mates. Hamadryas baboons and gelada baboons are ground-dwelling old world monkeys. They both live in groups with a single breeding male.
