This leads to broad appeal and having to get more than 50% of the vote to win, since there"s minority aggregation. Very effective at cutting through social divides, but many places choose against av because there"s a lack of power, etc. In nz and germ, you vote for a candidate and a party, which gives local and national feel. It"s growing in appeal because they remove some disadvantages of both fptp and pr.
