Document Summary

Paradigm- a framework for understanding, which shapes both what we see and how we understand it: everyone sees the world differently because we fall under paradigm, how you look at things will change the outcome. Ex: rednecks + money = lawn decorations, wealthy + money = savings: might ask on exam what paradigm we fall into, types of paradigms in the world: Positivists (aka realists) believe that there is one truth out there. Truth can be found through using scientific methods: ex: scientists. Post positivists believe that there is one truth out there but we will never understand this truth perfectly. Came after positivism because when they were trying to find the truth it wasn"t coming out as clearly as they were hoping. We are going to try to understand the truth but we understand that we might not know the whole truth. Also known as realists but they are okay with not understanding the one truth completely.
