Isolation- can be scary for child as well as family. Toddler: explain right before procedure in simple concrete terms. Adolescent: clear complete explanations- oral or written. Physical preparation-npo, proper identification, void before surgery, monitor vs. Physical assessment- va, airway clearance, resp distress, monitor surgical site, monitor i&o.
