He had a business partner whose son was arrested under state charges. The partner asks nixon what he can do to help them and nixon calls a state prosecutor and says the boy is good from a good family. Word got out and fbi asked nixon if he exerted pressure on the prosecutor and he lied, and again on the grand jury. He was put in prison but did not resign. Congress decides that he should be impeached: he is impeached but he says his impeachment is unconstitutional. A committee of senators ran the trial and heard witnesses. Not the entire senate but a committee did so. They write a report with a recommendation to the senate and senate discusses and votes on the report. Nixon says that the senate try all impeachments and that he was tried with a portion of the senate and not the entire senate.
