Body position to which terms are applied to locate/describes parts of the body. Only difference from normal: forearm is in a supine position (opposite is prone) Sagittal plane - a plane that passes vertically through the body. Mid-sagittal plane evenly divides left & right sides. Frontal plane a plane that passes vertically through the body separating front (anterior) and back (posterior) Transverse plane a plane that passes horizontally through the body, separating the upper (superior) and lower (inferior) Axial region head, neck & trunk. Important for physical examination & clinical procedures. Gives ability to specifically state where an injury has occurred. Hypochondriac does not refer to someone who thinks they"re consistently sick. The dorsal cavity is lined with a 3-layered membrane called the meninges. They function to protect & support the brain & spinal cord within the dorsal. Abdominopelvic cavities lined with serous membranes that secrete serous fluid. These membranes have specific names based on their location.
