This is connected with the word secularization which is when more and more people are taking less guidance from religion and personal guidance. The great gatsby and his parties are an example of secularization or to secularize. Development of a protestant reaction to this. Fundamentalism was brought up, preachers got together and said they didn"t like the social gospel in cities. The priests were trying to push the original 23 fundamental teachings of christianity. There were a lot more novels and photos about sex. People thought that"s what was going on at the time. There were girls known as flapper that would dance and drink and tall with skinny legs. Religious groups and fathers panicked when they saw that in the cities. These are people that have one big issue, immigration from europe at this time.
