While there are positive effects of technology on people, there are negative effects too. Privacy- focused on how we can protect ourselves and our personal privacy. This concerns the collection and use of data about individuals. Accuracy- has to do with the responsibility of those who collect data to make sure the data is right. Property- has to do with who owns the data. Access- responsibility of people who have data to control who is able to use that data. Security- how can we secure hardware and software and protect sensitive information. Ethics- how do the actions of people and companies affect society. In large databases, the recent fast growing volume of data from people is known as big data. Information resellers and information brokers- data gatherers that collect, analyze, and sell personal data. They use publically available databases and sometimes nonpublic databases. They create electronic profiles which are highly detailed personalized descriptions of people.
