Our coding procedure differentiated between the source and object of each evaluative statement. Partisan : refers to sources identified as being affiliated with a particular candidacy. Nonpartisan : refers to all other sources. Democrat received more favorable coverage than the republican. Coverage of mccain generally unfavorable; coverage of sarah palin more favorable. Obama did really well online, mccain did really poorly. Increase of game vs policy schemas (frames) : focus on the horse race. Professor says schemas is wrong; that he"s really talking about frames. A media frame: a story line or central organizing idea that calls attention to some aspects of the story, connects events to one another, and thereby helps us understand what they mean. A media frame offers an answer to the question: what is most significant about this story? .
