Socializing with neighbors is positively linked to buying organic fruits and vegetables, using less water, consuming less household energy, and driving less. Generalized trust in others is positively linked to a willingness to make personal sacrifices for the environment through green taxes, higher prices and standard of living reductions. Latinos were significantly more likely than whites to engage in the following sustainable practices: Latinos were significantly more willing than whites to make standing of living reductions. Relative to social issues tied to racial inequality, education, and economic opportunity, environmentalism was given by african americans a relatively low priority. Also, content validity of environmental concern: focus on activism, monetary contributions, visits to national parks, etc. Minority communities created awareness of environmental injustices where they lived through place-based activism.
