Defining species: microevolution, natural selection at the level of the individual, changes in a populations biological traits, macroevolution, how new species and taxa are created. *adaptive radiation: the process by which organisms diversify in to new forms. Often accompanied by the opening of new ecological niches: distinguishing species, behavior and morphology, subjective measures can lead to ambiguous classification, biological species concept, species isolated. : group of organisms that interbreed and are reproductively: reproductive isolation, members of a given species don"t mate successfully with members of another species. Taxonomy and systematics: carolus linneaus (1707-1778, created a naming system for all living organisms. Only found in madagascar: 100 different species- many different ecological niches, madagascar and india broke off as a single continent 115 million years ago, then india broke away from madagascar. 88 million years ago: no new genes have come in or come out, lorises. Found in india, sri lanka, south east asia: tropical and woodland forests.
