BIOL 101 Lecture Notes - Lecture 17: Epithelium, Feedback, Skeletal Muscle
Document Summary
Cells tissues organs organ systems. Organ systems: circulatory system, respiratory system, nervous system, digestive system, skeletal system, muscular system. Maintenance of constant internal environment on the face of changing environment. Negative: move away return to correct level. Positive: move away move further away. Connective tissue: connects, supports, protects: bones, tendons, blood, cartilage. Epithelial tissue: covers, lines organs: skin, digestive tract, blood vessels, lungs. Muscle tissue: contracts response to stimuli: skeletal, circulation, digestion. Nervous tissue: transmit impulse, response to stimuli: cns, brain, spinal cord, nerves. Organs are made of several kinds of tissues. Stomach: nervous tissue, muscle tissue, connective tissue, epithelial tissue. Tendons, ligaments connect muscle and bone. Blood red blood cells (most numerous), white blood cells (immune function), platelets (pieces of red blood cells for clotting), plasma (surrounds blood cells) Three components of the skeletal system: bone, ligaments (join bone to bone), cartilage (join bone to muscle)
