What are 5 interesting facts or take-aways that you gleaned from this article: high utilization of resources will improve performance: projects take longer when people are not working 100% of the time. However, this does not take into account the intrinsic variability of development work: high utilization can also lead to delays. The queueing theory regards the mathematical study of waiting lines: there is a difference between manufacturing and product development. Manufacturing is more repetitive whereas pd the tasks are more unique: in overcoming the common fallacies, the guidelines deal with make things as easy, visible, and accessible for managers. This is to help efficiency by simplifying the process: it is very hard to fight a problem that you cannot see or measure. Solutions are to change the management control system, selectively increase capacity, limit the number of active projects, and make the process of inventory easier.
