Signaling cell produces a chemical signal molecule-ligand: molecule produced by a signaling cell that binds with a specific receptor, delivering a signal in the process o. Stimulus response phenomenon-signal molecule is the stimulus and target cell is response. The way cells communicate are classified by the distance between the signaling and target cell o. Paracrine signaling: signaling between nearby cells that is delivered by ligands traveling in the liquid medium in the space between the cells cells. Signaling molecules diffuse a short distance from the signal cell to target.
