Personality: unique collection of attitudes, emotions, thoughts, habits, impulses and behaviors that define how a person typically behaves across situations. Id: personality present at birth and completely unconscious. Superego: part of the personality also known as the moral center. Ego: develops out of a need to deal with reality, it is the most conscious and logical. Projection: a defense mechanism involved in placing ones unacceptable thoughts onto others as if the thoughts actually belonged to them and not you. Projective test: personality assessment that presents ambiguous visual stimuli to a client and asks them to respond with what comes to mind. Ex: ink blot test a. k. a. the rorschach test (very subjective) Test is only valid within a particular person"s perception, it may be influenced by biases, prejudices and personal experience. Trait: the tendency to behave a certain way across situations. Central traits: behavioral tendencies that usually exhibit across most situations.
