Document Summary

Amino acids occur in l form in nature. There are twenty amino acids found in nature of which glycine is the simplest one. Glycine is the simplest and achiral amino acid. The pentapeptide serylglycyltyrosylalanylleucine can be written as ser gly tyr ala leu. Peptides are named beginning with the aminoterminal residue, which by convention is placed at the left. The polypeptides comes in different form: the primary form which is an open chain comprises of a single polypeptide. The bond involved here is a peptide bond: the secondary form comes in two types, the alpha helix, the beta sheets. Bonds involved: alpha helix involves peptide bond. And intermolecular hydrogen bonding as it is within the same polypeptide: beta sheets which comprises of more than one polypeptide chain, tertiary form. The structure which is more coiled and globular consisting of alpha helices and beta sheets.
