Affect ways they suffer & try to adapt to imprisonment. Sykes didn"t provide explanation of why & how roles changed, didn"t develop in detail the prisoner socialization. Very clear about how roles were not fixed, is mutable, varies. How/why these prisoners adopt role in specific moment, and change role. Did little to develop this idea of prisonization . Way prisoners are socialized in prison (social) system. For clemmer deepened over the course of imprisonment & was obstacle for rehabilitation socialized.
