Consider the following as you plan for your debate:
ï· Good arguments are persuasive.
ï· They are rooted in facts, shared values and critical analysis.
They have a good understanding of the oppositionâs arguments.
Debate:
The state of Texas should take DNA samples and record âgenetic fingerprintsâ from all people arrested.
Each statement has a corresponding case study (see next pages) to give you a better idea of how this technology or concept might be used.
Case Study:
In Virginia, Mia was arrested three years ago for theft and a DNA sample was taken and her identifying DNA markers were entered into the state database. In her trial, Mia was found innocent and received a full acquittal; however her DNA information remained in the state database. Last week a man was found dead in an alley. Yesterday Mia was brought in as a suspect in the murder case due to a match between her DNA and a sample found at the crime scene. There is no other link between Mia and the current murder case. Of course, we do not know if Mia committed the crime.
In the debate im supporting that the state of Texas should take DNA samples and record âgenetic fingerprintsâ from all people arrested. I need more supportive info, anything will do thanks.
