Document Summary
Cycle that people use everyday without really thinking about it. A listener"s response, based on how he or she interpreted a message. The information shared by the speaker with the listener. The way that a message is sent to and received by the listener. A disruption to the communication process; also called noise. Begins when a speaker (or sender) sends a message. Message is the information that the person shares with a listener. Encoding refers to the process of developing a message. Speakers encode messages based on their communications goals. If speaker"s goal is to get information, the message might be shared in the form of a question shared in the form of a question. If speaker wants to explain something, he or she may include a lot of details in the message. The speaker also considers which words his or her listeners will understand, as well as which words would be appropriate for the context.
