Document Summary

Throughout life, new neurons are born and unused neurons die away. The sheath covers the axon to help speed the neural impulse, aka neural message. The more myelin you have the more efficient the messages can send quicker. Resting potential: neurons is resting - potentially to send a message but ha"t happened yet. Action potential: brief electrical charge down the axon. Threshold: level required to trigger neural impulse. Refractory period: pause after firing until return to resting state. Neuroplasticity: the brain is constantly changing, building new pathways as it adjusts to little mishaps and new experiences. All or none law: one the message is reached - sending the message 100% its more intense because lot of neurons are sending it all at once. Gap: the gap between one neuron to the next: neurotransmitter - other chemicals that release the message, reuptake: reabsorbed transmitters. Action potential releases neurotransmitters the next neurons receives those transmitters.
