Document Summary
Foxe"s book of martyrs: the resolve of thomas haukes. The martyr, thomas haukes, was among six others who were brought before bishop. His faith was unshaken and held strong under scrutiny as he was sent to his death by way of burning at the stake. His dedication to his faith strong, he told his friends that he would give them a signal at his execution that would prove his faith in god was true. It was very inspiring to the others who were present and led them to applaud and cheer. This display of sheer courage by thomas haukes was inspiration enough for so many to justify their faith and to not be afraid to die for it. Haukes was a gentleman who was born in essex from a good family. He was a courtier, and as he got older and more experienced, he served with the lord of oxford.
