Through the duration of this course there have been many instances that have had a very positive influence on the philosophy of child guidance. There were concepts that were familiar to me to some extent which further reinforced my own perspective, however there were also many concepts that were new to me that have influenced me even more. As a father myself of two sons who are now adults, there has always been plenty of opportunities for me to learn and apply new ideas to parenting. My style of parenting was not something that could not be modeled after my own upbringing, as my father did not provide me with a good example to follow. However, my own childhood experiences did leave me with a lasting impression of parenting for which a pledge was made many years ago to not repeat with my own children.
