Document Summary

Yoga, (sanskrit: "burdening" or "association") one of the six frameworks (darshans) of indian way of thinking. Its impact has been far and wide among numerous different schools of indian idea. Its essential message is the yoga-sutras by patanjali (c. second century bce or fifth century ce). Yoga holds with samkhya that the accomplishment of profound freedom (moksha) happens when the soul (purusha) is liberated from the servitude of issue (prakriti) that has come about because of obliviousness and deception. For the most part, the yoga cycle is portrayed in eight phases (ashtanga- yoga, "eight-membered yoga"). They are yama ("limitation"), which indicates restraint from injury (see ahimsa), lie, taking, desire, and ravenousness; and niyama ("discipline"), which means tidiness of body, satisfaction, grimness, study, and dedication to god. Asana ("seat"), a progression of practices in actual stance, is expected to condition the hopeful"s body and make it graceful, adaptable, and sound.
