Document Summary

The two perceptions of "self" include personal identity and social identity, which respectively reflect self-evaluation based on self-perceptions and personal evaluation based on how individuals evaluate themselves with respect to social judgements. This implies that a person"s self-evaluations are highly dependent on their self-perception as well as the way other people perceive them. This paper discusses the two major perceptions of self and evaluates the most reasonable view of "self. " Religion has been an important aspect of humanity for thousands of years. According to the lord buddha"s philosophy, "we are what we think" (amirtha, 2017). This means that people curve their paths in life based on their individual thoughts. It is only through such thoughts that people contribute towards making the world a better place. Essentially, people tend to become what they think of themselves. However, this concept does not match everyone"s path as far as life is concerned.
