Selection interviews/employment interviews- used to identify the best candidates for a job. Performance appraisal interviews- used to review employees" performance and help set targets for the future for possible promotions. Disciplinary interviews- used by supervisors to deal with misconduct or poor performance. Exit interviews- used by human resources personnel to help determine why someone is leaving a job and to get feedback on possible problems in the workplace. Diagnostic interviews- used by health care providers, attorneys, counselors, and salespeople to detect problems and gather info that helps them respond to client needs. Investigative interviews- used by police officers, journalists, and social workers to help determine the causes of a problem. Research interviews- conducted by businesspeople to gather info they can use to make future decisions.
