The fluid mosaic model of membrane structure states that

1. The transition of a membrane with lipids in a crystalline state to a membrane with lipds in a fluid state takes place in a narrow temperature range.

2. The membrane is a fluid and proteins float around like icebergs

3. Cholesterol makes cystalline membrane noncrystalline and plasticizes a fluid membrane

4. The membrane is a mixture of fluid and crystalline domains

5. Membranes are composed of a fluid mix of phospholipids, cholesterol, cholesterol esters, and proteoglycans
